Kylie Cosmetics Burgundy Palette | Review & Swatches
I'm one of those cliché millennials who is influenced by practically everything Kylie Jenner does. Can you blame me?
I wouldn't be a loyal Kylie follower if I hadn't caved and bought a few of her products a couple of times. In my current stock I have a Koko K Lip Kit as well as the Mary Jo Lip Kit. I didn't buy into the Birthday collection, the Kyliners or even the Bronze Palette. Then a few weeks ago, the Burgundy palette came out and I fell in love.
I'm sure you've seen it, how could you not have? Kylie is a clever gal, and if you follow her on any social media, you are blasted with her merchandise every day of the week. Except it's done in such a way that you may not even realise that you are being sold too. Follow her on Snapchat for a day and see how long you last before you run to her site.
Now let's get to this beauty of a palette...
Kylie seems to have a way of making things look very very 'tumblr'.
I used to have a white theme so this packaging kind of speaks to me. You always can wish for a mirror on any palette, but oddly enough I don't think that it needs it. It would ruin the whole 'Kylie' vibe...
Price Point (& Shipping Time)
The palette itself is $42 plus $15 shipping...
I know. Really you're buying into the brand, that's what you're doing with all of her products. We have all fallen for it, but at least this time the product itself is actually pretty good.
The reason the shipping costs are so high is obviously because I live across the world from Kylie. Surprisingly though it only took 8 days (including weekends) to get to my door; and yes I completely squealed with excitement when it did get here....
Shades & Swatches
This palette contains; Naked (satin finish golden sand), Beach (matte finish light warm brown), Penny (matte finish red orange), LA (metallic finish true copper), Burgundy (matte finish bright red burgundy), Dubai (metallic finish burgundy), Brick (matte finish dirty brick), NY (metallic finish warm bronze), Almond (matte finish deep red brown).
I didn't like the Bronze palette, but as soon as I saw the colours in this one (and the makeup looks she did with it), I knew I had to get my hands on it. The burgundy eye trend has been around for a while now, but somehow I don't think anyone has done it quite as well as this one.
There are 3 shimmer colours, and the rest are all mattes. The shimmers are a new formula of hers, and they definitely have an impact. I personally like to pack them all together on the center of my lid, and the names are kind of my favourite. My only judgement of the colours is the 'Naked' shade as it is just too light to actually be seen on my skin-tone. Those pale skin problems.
Is it Worth the Hype?
If you have ever even considered buying a product of Kylie's I think you may already have your answer.
It's a beautiful palette with great colour range, they blend beautifully and the packaging is really pretty. If you are a makeup fanatic or even perhaps just even a little interested in eye makeup, this is the perfect piece to add to your collection.
If nothing else; you can just tell others you have it.
This is just me telling you after all.
